Telegram from Dr. Seyss-Inquart, Austrian Minister of the Interior, to the Fuehrer and Reich chancellor on the eve of 11 March 1938.1
The provisional Austrian government which after the dismissal of the Schuschnigg government, considers it its task to establish peace and order in Austria, sends to the German government the urgent request, to support it in its task and to help it to prevent bloodshed. For this purpose it asks the German government to send German troops as soon as possible.2

After the resignation of the Schuschnigg cabinet on 11 March at 2000 hours, minister of the interior Dr. Seyss-Inquart had complete government power in Austria as the last minister of the Confederation in office.
2. On the morning of 12 March from 0600 hours on, German troops under the high command of Infantry General Fedor Von Bock, crossed the Austrian border.
